Subject: Request for Investigation Into Discriminatory Conduct, Retaliatory Banning Practices, and Abusive Use of Authority by the Owner(s) of New Fords Bar
I. Introduction
We, the community members, submit this petition to request a formal investigation into ongoing discriminatory, retaliatory, and inappropriate conduct by the owner(s) of New Fords Bar located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The reported behaviors raise significant concerns regarding misuse of a liquor license, violations of ethical business conduct, and the creation of a hostile and unsafe environment for women.
II. Summary of Reported Behavior
Numerous women in the Idaho Falls community have reported a consistent pattern of discriminatory practices by the owner of New Fords Bar, including but not limited to the following:
A. Retaliatory Bans Based on Personal Refusal of Sexual Activity
The owner has allegedly:
Engaged in sexual or romantic contact with female patrons
Subsequently issued bans from the establishment when these women declined further sexual or romantic involvement
Enforced these bans not due to misconduct, safety issues, or policy violations, but solely as retaliation for refusing continued sexual relations
Such behavior suggests an abusive use of business authority, potentially violating Idaho’s public accommodation and discrimination standards.
B. Sharing Private Sexual Information with Other Patrons
Reports indicate the owner frequently:
Discusses private, intimate, or sexual details about former partners with male customers
References banned women by name
Speaks about these individuals in ways that create humiliation, retaliation, or reputational harm
This conduct fosters a hostile environment and raises significant concerns regarding safety, privacy, and predatory behavior.
III. Impact on the Community
The reported pattern of behavior has created:
A hostile and unsafe environment for women in downtown Idaho Falls
A chilling effect on women who fear retaliation for refusing advances
A misuse of a liquor-licensed establishment for personal power and control
Damage to community trust and safety in nightlife spaces
Bars and liquor-licensed businesses are obligated to operate without discrimination, coercion, or retaliatory practices. The conduct described fundamentally violates those expectations.
IV. Request for Action
We respectfully request that the following actions be taken:
Initiate a formal investigation into the reported discriminatory and retaliatory behavior by the owner of New Fords Bar.
Review the establishment’s compliance with Idaho liquor licensing laws & policies, including provisions concerning safety, discrimination, and ethical operation.
Determine whether sanctions, suspension, or revocation of the liquor license are appropriate based on investigative findings.
Ensure protections for individuals who have been harmed or retaliated against, including measures to prevent further misconduct during the investigation.
Inspection of the building we believe the building violates many health violation codes. Including but not limited to:
Structure: There has been repeated complaints of the dance floor specifically and its structural integrity
Bathrooms: Men’s bathrooms lack privacy by having no doors in the stalls and the women have been noted to be missing toilet seats
Hot Water: Safety concerns of water not being appropriate temperature for sanitation concerns
ADA Violations & Concerns: Having steps to enter bathrooms and also having non smooth terrain for entry and exit
V. Statement of Community Interest
The Idaho Falls community deserves nightlife venues that uphold basic standards of safety, respect, and nondiscrimination.
The allegations described constitute a serious breach of community trust and warrant immediate review by regulatory authorities.
